The Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival is the primary fundraiser for the Lions Sick Children's Fund, a registered charity.   The GMDBF aids the Sick Children's Fund in fulfilling their mission of providing financial support for sick children and their families in the tri-county area.

Festival sponsors help defray the costs of hosting the festival, allowing team pledges to go directly to the Sick Children's Fund (60%) and to the participating teams' charities of choice (40%).
